Transport and logistics
RULES TO BE FOLLOWED BY CARRIERS
General information on the transportation and logistics of Texel – Geosynthetics products:
Handling and shipping geosynthetic products involve a number of challenges. For this reason, Texel is pleased to offer its expertise to help organize the transportation details of your orders.
Several transportation options are available to you:
- Enclosed trailers: Partial loads (LTL), full 53’ truckloads;
- Open trailers: Mini flatbeds from 24’ to 40’, standard flatbeds of 48’ or 53’;
- Intermodal transport: Marine or rail containers.
If your carrier has already been selected, we will be pleased to contact them to organize transportation. If you nevertheless choose to handle transportation yourself, please note that we will not be able to coordinate the technical aspects of these shipments and cannot be held responsible for delivery follow-up.
Transportation quotes and space requests:
You may obtain a transportation and/or loading space quote by contacting our Customer Service representatives. This quote will provide an estimate of transportation costs, truck quantities, or the space required for your order. However, due to the nature of geosynthetic products, roll diameters may vary. As a result, this variation may affect the quantity that can be loaded per truck. Requests will therefore be estimated based on the most recent available loading data. Please be aware that actual quantities may vary significantly from estimated quantities. Any request made to Customer Service will be handled by our Logistics Department within a reasonable timeframe, depending on complexity, load type, and mode of transportation.
Customer pickup and required equipment:
As mentioned, you may arrange transportation for your orders yourself. In this case, you must arrive at our warehouses with appropriate transportation equipment. A space request can assist you in selecting the required equipment. Please note that if you arrange transportation yourself, we will not be able to track your orders or negotiate with the carrier in the event of loss or damage. Your equipment must meet the following standards:
- 53’ enclosed trailer (dry box): Refrigerated trailers will reduce loading capacity;
- Mini flatbeds: Load securement devices must be provided by your carrier, and loaded quantities may vary significantly depending on the equipment selected;
- 48’ or 53’ open trailer, bi-train, or curtain-side truck: A minimum of 16 stakes is required for all loads. Stake placement on open trailers or trailers equipped with a bulkhead may reduce loading capacity. “Low Bed,” “Step Deck,” “Drop Deck,” “Skeleton,” “Double Drop,” and “Fardier” trailers will not be accepted by our Logistics team for safety reasons;
- Rail container: Equipment provided by CN or CP meets our criteria;
- Marine container: Loading estimates are based on “High Cube” containers.
Appointment scheduling:
Please note that order confirmation must be received by our Credit Department prior to pickup. In addition, an appointment must be scheduled with the Logistics team before collecting your orders from our warehouses. Adhering to scheduled appointments is essential to ensure smooth operations and avoid unnecessary waiting times. To schedule an appointment, please contact us at
