Geobarriers

Geobarriers are designed to prevent the migration of loose soils into drainage ditches and waterways during construction work. They come in various forms, including sediment barriers, turbidity curtains, filtration socks, sedimentation bags, and catch basin sediment traps, each designed to suit specific site conditions and construction constraints.

Using this type of product is considered one of the primary best practices for environmental mitigation in erosion control and in reducing its harmful impacts on the environment. Their use is mandatory in most parts of North America.

General Documentation

F1 BNQ Grade

The F1 BNQ Grade sediment barrier is a flexible fence made of a nonwoven geotextile that meets the BNQ F1 grade and is preassembled using industrial staples on wooden stakes. The base of the stakes is tapered to facilitate penetration into the soil, and a 150 mm flap is provided at the bottom of the geotextile to allow proper anchoring into the ground. Installed around the perimeter of construction areas where soils are disturbed, these barriers are designed to control soil particle migration and prevent contamination of adjacent sites (waterways, parking lots, roads, etc.).

Type 1

The Type 1 sediment barrier is a flexible fence made of a woven geotextile, preassembled using industrial staples on wooden stakes. The base of the stakes is tapered to facilitate penetration into the soil, and a 150 mm flap is provided at the bottom of the geotextile to allow proper anchoring into the ground. Installed around the perimeter of construction areas where soils are disturbed, these barriers are designed to control the migration of soil particles and prevent contamination of adjacent sites (waterways, parking lots, roads, etc.).

Biodegradable

Our biodegradable sediment barrier combines efficiency with environmental responsibility. Made from a biodegradable polyester nonwoven geotextile, it offers the same performance as a standard barrier for controlling sediment on your worksites.

Once its job is done, it naturally decomposes: 3.5 years in a landfill and 3.2 years in natural soil. No more dealing with persistent waste — you protect your projects and the planet at the same time.

Turbidity Curtains

Turbitex turbidity curtains are floating barriers designed to control the dispersion of sediments during work carried out near or within waterways. Made from geosynthetics specifically selected according to site conditions, Turbitex curtains confine and promote the settling of sediments within a predetermined area.

The curtains are available in various depths and can be connected together to form a continuous barrier along the length of the work site. Whether made from permeable or impermeable material, Turbitex products will meet environmental requirements throughout the execution of your project.

Oil Absorbent Socks

Oil absorbent socks are designed to absorb and recover accidental leaks and spills of petroleum products. The materials used in their fabrication have specific properties that allow them to absorb oil while remaining hydrophobic, making these products an ideal solution for recovering oil spills on bodies of water.

Sedimentation Sock

Our sedimentation socks are filtering devices made from various natural fibers (straw, wood, coir) and are primarily used in dredging projects, aquatic construction, and environmental protection. They act as a temporary barrier that retains suspended sediments while allowing filtered water to flow through.

  • Environmental protection: reduces turbidity and prevents contamination of sensitive areas.
  • Quick and flexible installation: adaptable to various site configurations.
  • Durable and high-performance materials: designed to withstand the demanding conditions of aquatic environments.
  • Regulatory compliance: helps meet current environmental standards and reduces the ecological impact of your work.

Silt Bag

The silt bag is a filtration system made from needle-punched nonwoven geotextile, designed to reduce turbidity and retain fine particles in pumped or drained water. It provides a quick and economical method for treating sediment-laden water while meeting environmental standards.

  • Proven performance: effectively retains sediments and suspended solids.
  • Easy installation: connects directly to the pump outlet.
  • Versatility: available in multiple sizes to suit your needs.
  • Environmentally friendly: limits the dispersion of pollutants into natural environments.

Sediment Trap

Texel sediment traps are the ideal solution for effectively capturing particles carried by runoff water before they reach the municipal stormwater system. Designed to be easily installed between the frame and grate of storm drains or catch basins, they allow drainage systems to function normally while filtering sediments — offering far superior and longer-lasting performance compared to a simple piece of geotextile.

Made from high-performance woven geotextile, our universal traps fit most systems thanks to their optimized dimensions: a 1-meter diameter and a 0.9-meter depth.
